FKM

Fluororubber (FKM) is divided into two major series: bisphenol-curable and peroxide-curable. It is suitable for sealing and molding applications in high-temperature and corrosive environments.

Product Information

Bisphenol-Curable FKM

Bisphenol-curable materials achieve an excellent balance between superior processability, mechanical properties, and sealing characteristics. They can be sold either as base polymers or as systems containing vulcanizing components (formulated into various grades). A variety of combinations can be made based on viscosity, vulcanization rate, and crosslink density, making them suitable for different molding processes.

Based on their monomer composition, they are categorized as follows.
binary copolymer: Universal polymer based on VDF and HFP monomers with a fluorine content of 66%.
terpolymer: Chemical resistance is superior to dimers, with fluorine contents ranging from 68% to 70%.
Low temperature terpolymer
Its chemical resistance is similar to that of bisphenol dibasic copolymers, while its glass transition temperature is lower, with a fluorine content of 65.51 TP3T

Peroxide vulcanizable FKM

The chemical resistance of peroxide vulcanized grades is superior to the most severe end-use environments of bisphenol vulcanization. Thanks to Solvay's proprietary branched and pseudo FKMs for reactive polymerization techniques, these grades can be successfully processed by compression molding, transfer molding or injection molding processes. They also have excellent extrusion properties, making them suitable for hose and cable jacketing production. This unique polymerization technology also results in unmatched tensile properties and outstanding long-term sealing performance.

Solvay's family of perovskite vulcanizable materials are available in medium and low viscosity grades, including.

Standard peroxide vulcanizable FKM (P series)
Versatile grade with excellent chemical resistance to different media.
Low temperature FKM (PL series)
These grades offer the same benefits as P-Series polymers, with a broader range of low-temperature application performance.PL grades are used in a wide range of automotive, oil and gas, and aerospace applications.
Alkali-resistant FKM(BR series)
This family of products is designed with a unique monomer composition that provides higher resistance to alkaline additives than other FKM grades. It is particularly suitable for applications in direct contact with aggressive engine oils, gear lubricants, transmission fluids and coolants.
Ultra-low temperature FKM (VPL series)
These unique materials are based on Solvay's novel “MOVE” monomer technology, resulting in excellent low-temperature sealing properties and top chemical resistance. These polymers exhibit high processing characteristics and compression set. A wide range of grades is available with TR10 values from -30 to -45°C. Typical applications include high performance injector O-rings, oilfield and aerospace sealing components.
